Follow along with our monthly theme: “Fall into Health.” As autumn approaches, it is beneficial to look ahead and make a plan NOW to succeed in this next season! While it may be tempting to lean into comfort foods, pumpkin spice lattes, and staying cozy at home, our clinicians will be posting each week about ways you can intentionally stay healthy and active throughout the fall.
PLAN TO EAT WELL!
This time of year, “comfort foods” and the busyness of life are upon us! As we enter this fall season, how can we plan to take care of ourselves? The answer is in the question: plan! You have probably heard of the saying “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”
Take some time each week and make a menu and a grocery list. Have fun with the seasonal foods, which will meet your body’s needs to for this time of year, and look at healthy ways to incorporate them. A great cookbook is Cook Once, Eat All Week by Cassy Joy Garcia. Make sure you also have healthy snacks on hand as well in order to avoid the temptation of needing to stop and grab a quick, less healthy option.
As the weather gets cooler, we tend to move less and eat more. We encourage you to reverse this trend! Head into the fall season with a good plan in place, and this will allow old habits and tendencies to go away.
