Nutritional Supplementation
A nutritional supplement is a preparation intended to supplement the diet and provide nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, fiber, fatty acids, or amino acids, that may be missing or may not be consumed in sufficient quantities in a person’s diet. Food supplements are concentrated sources of nutrients and other substances with a nutritional or physiological effect whose purpose is to supplement the normal diet. Supplements may be used to correct nutritional deficiencies or maintain an adequate intake of certain nutrients. There are thousands of different nutritional supplement products on the market, which makes for a great deal of confusion when discussing supplements. They are usually made from plants, animals, or minerals.
Effects of nutritional supplements can include: normalizing hormonal levels, normalizing metabolism, improving sleep, improving mood, increasing energy levels, lowering insulin resistance, and increasing fat burning capability.
Since everyone is unique and has different medical problems, the nutritional supplements needed will vary.
Supplements are not drugs. They are more like the good foods that are unfortunately limited or missing in our regular diet. For instance, we might not eat eggs or avocado every day, even though they are good products. This is where supplementation can fill the void. Usually, after several months of regular consumption of the supplements, the nutritional deficit is resolved and you can take it only occasionally.
Supplements support organs and systems that get limited support from food. We encourage you take supplements after the treatment is over to support your optimal physical and mental health.
