Cold and flu season is upon us, and this year clients have been exposed to MANY strains of illness. One of the questions I have been asked frequently is, “What can I do to boost my immune system?” This is a great question, and the answer lies right in our kitchen… FOOD! Yes friends, there are a TON of immune-boosting supplements found in nature. Could you take a supplement? Sure! But why would you if some of the best remedies the good Lord created are right at your fingertips? What are these great foods you may ask? Here are a few….
Garlic: Naturally fights immune stresses like bacteria and viruses. High in vitamin C and vitamin B6.
Ginger: Antioxidant. Helps support digestion and inflammation. Ginger works best when consumed in its raw, natural form.
Green Veggies: Kale, spinach, chard, and beet greens all have green immune-supporting benefits. They help fight infection and are high in antioxidants and vitamins.
Almonds: High in vitamin E; this is essential for the body to absorb immune-boosting, fat-soluble vitamins.
Turmeric: High in anti-inflammatory properties, as well as an antioxidant. Also has anti-bacterial, -fungal, and -viral properties.
Citrus: Vitamin C galore! Essential for immune systems.
Bone Broth: AKA “Liquid Gold.” Bone broth is full of amazing vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that are essential for the body. Plus, it is healing on the digestive system, which is where a huge portion of that immune system is rooted.
Here is a great recipe to get in a lot of these awesome foods in one sitting. Enjoy!
